Challenge: Brackish Water Limiting Irrigation and Crop Growth

Farmers on the island of Antigua faced a significant challenge: the island’s natural water sources were poorly suited for irrigation. They had to rely on a saline river pond with brackish water, which severely limited crop growth due to poor water quality.

Solution: Solar-Powered Reverse Osmosis for Irrigation Water

SolarRO BW30 container
Production capacity: 1 m³ per hour
PV field: 6.0 kW

Our automatic, reliable solar desalination system proved to be the most sustainable and effective solution. The SolarRO BW 30 reverse osmosis system offers a cost-effective, off-grid method for continuous freshwater production. It delivers between 7 and 9 cubic meters of clean water daily, ensuring farmers have a dependable and sustainable water supply for irrigation.

Impact: Increased Crop Yields and Local Food Production

A consistent source of high-quality irrigation water has led to increased crop yields, improved food security, and a boost to the local economy. With fresh produce now available for sale at local markets, farmers can expand their businesses while relying on renewable energy – eliminating the need for expensive fuel or electricity.

Our solar-powered desalination technology is scalable, eco-friendly, and economically viable, making it an ideal solution for agricultural communities facing water scarcity.
