Solar-Powered RO System Delivers Affordable Drinking Water to 1,500 Kenyans
Product: SolarRO BW30 container
Production capacity: 1 m³ per hour
PV field: 5.5 kW

Challenge
In Kenya, the residents of Kabati faced a daily struggle to access safe and affordable drinking water. The village’s only water source was a borehole with poor water quality, making it unsuitable for drinking without proper treatment.
Solution
To address this, we deployed the SolarRO BW 30 containerized reverse osmosis system, equipped with integrated water ATMs for easy and convenient access. Powered entirely by a solar PV field, the system eliminates the need for expensive and polluting diesel generators. A high-capacity elevated clean water tank ensures a steady supply of purified water that meets strict drinking water standards.
Impact
Today, 1,500 residents of Kabatican purchase low-cost, high-quality drinking water directly from the water ATMs using local mobile payment methods. With a daily production capacity of 6 to 7 cubic meters, the community now benefits from reliable, sustainable, and affordable access to clean water—empowering residents and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
Our SolarRO solutions offer a scalable, off-grid, and cost-effective approach to bringing clean drinking water to remote communities.
